Recent research has revealed that erectile dysfunction has to do with gum disease. A study of 70 men shows a link between gum disease with a man's ability to obtain an erection. Data showed that with increasing severity of erectile dysfunction, the prevalence of chronic gum disease was also increased. According to the National Institutes of Health, erectile dysfunction is defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual gratification. The condition is experienced by 1 in 10 men worldwide, and is generally experienced by those aged over 40 years.
